Softball Recap: Yosemite Badgers vs. Chowchilla Tribe
Yosemite had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-11 to make it four. They came up short against the Chowchilla Tribe, falling 20-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tribe this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-3 on Tuesday.
As for Chowchilla, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. Considering they have won 11 matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
For Chowchilla's part, Lexyss Sabin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Sabin has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Rylee Vlot was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Purcell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Coincidentally, Yosemite and Chowchilla will both be playing Riverdale the next time they take the field. The Badgers will head out to face the Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Tribe will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
