Softball Game Preview: Moore County Raiders vs. Huntland Hornets

Moore County hasn't had much luck against Huntland recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Moore County will head out on the road to face off against Huntland at 6:00 p.m. Moore County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Moore County will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Grundy County on Friday. Moore County was the clear victor by an 11-5 margin over Grundy County.

Anna Leigh Ross was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Kallie Ross also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Anna Leigh wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Moore County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. Moore County is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Huntland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Sequatchie County, falling 15-6.

Huntland's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Moore County, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Moore County couldn't quite finish off Huntland in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 18-16. Can Moore County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
