Northeast Ohio - Valley recap Sept. 26, 2012
Mentor's Conner Krizancic recorded the longest rushing play in Northeast Ohio - Valley this season in his game against Parma last week. Krizancic scampered for 86 yards on the play and finished with 85 on the day as his team beat the Redmen.
Mentor took down Parma 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mitch Trubisky threw for 174 yards and four touchdowns and ran for four yards in the win.
Brandon Fritts was the best wideout in the league this week as Steve Trivisonno's team topped the Redmen. Fritts racked up three receptions for 78 yards. Krizancic helped Mentor's passing attack out by catching four balls for 56 yards.
Nick Roberts was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 117 yards on 20 carries as Brunswick bested Parma. Keith Yohman also contributed to the rushing game with 61 yards on the ground.
Mentor's Trubisky and Fritts have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Northeast Ohio - Valley in both passing and receiving yards. Trubisky has thrown for 1187 yards this season, while Fritts, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 20 catches for 355 yards. Roberts from the Blue Devils leads the league in rushing with 522 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Mentor takes on second place Brunswick. The Cardinals topped the Redmen last week, while Brunswick defeated Garfield Heights.
There should be lots of points scored when the Blue Devils and Mentor face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Brunswick comes in having scored 143 this season, while the Cardinals have scored 189. The Blue Devils scored 30 points last week as they beat the Bulldogs.
Brunswick made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 439 from 721. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 30-7 victory over Garfield Heights last week.
