Softball Game Preview: Normandy Invaders vs. North Olmsted Eagles

The Normandy Invaders will take on the North Olmsted Eagles at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. North Olmsted took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Normandy, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Normandy needed a bit of extra time to put away Bay. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Rockets.

Ava Ramirez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over eight innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.9 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Kuhn, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Alyssa Parker was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Normandy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.

Meanwhile, North Olmsted fell victim to Buckeye and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Bucks, falling 16-0. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Bucks: they've now lost five in a row.

North Olmsted's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Normandy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Normandy beat North Olmsted 11-6 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Invaders repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
