Football Recap: Monty Turner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Menlo-Atherton over California + How To Watch

Menlo-Atherton had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-4 to make it seven. They took a 28-13 bruising from the California Grizzlies. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 86th).

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Monty Turner, who rushed for 120 yards. Teddy Dacey also deserves some recognition as he passed for his first passing touchdown of the season.

Menlo-Atherton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Spencer Ama and Matei Tau.

As for California, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. That looming 28-13 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

California's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Banerjee Arjun, who threw for 135 yards and three TDs on only nine passes. 88 of Arjun's passing yards were hauled in by Darius Brown, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Coming up, Menlo-Atherton will challenge San Mateo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for California, they will square off against McClymonds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
