Baseball Game Preview: Lake George Lakers vs. Fort Ann Cardinals

The Lake George Lakers will head out to square off against the Fort Ann Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake George will be strutting in after a win while Fort Ann will be coming in after a defeat.

Lake George took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Whitehall 19-9. The victory continues a trend for the Lakers in their matchups with the Railroaders: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Fort Ann challenged North Warren Central on Wednesday. The Cardinals fell 9-4 to the Cougars. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 13, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Drew Ladd made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chase Tolene, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Lake George pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Fort Ann, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Lake George was able to grind out a solid win over Fort Ann in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 10-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lakers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
