Basketball Recap: Cripple Creek-Victor Takes a Loss

Cripple Creek-Victor played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Kiowa Indians and fell 52-25. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Cripple Creek-Victor's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Reyes, who posted 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Davien Estrada, who earned no points along with seven blocks and five boards.

Kiowa was led to victory by Austin Brogger and Zayden Kalisch. Brogger dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Kalisch dropped a double-double on 18 points and 19 boards. With that strong performance, Brogger is now averaging an impressive 2.5 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Current, who had four points and nine rebounds.

Cripple Creek-Victor's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Kiowa, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.

Cripple Creek-Victor has already played their next contest, a 47-27 loss against South Park on the 27th. As for Kiowa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-19 win against Deer Trail on the 28th.
