Basketball Recap: Aydon Austin Key Part of a Team Effort in Wildcats Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Forge Christian, The Academy was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They strolled past the Jefferson Academy Jaguars with points to spare, taking the game 79-61. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aydon Austin, who shot 5-for-5 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 assists. The dominant performance also gave Austin a new career-high in steals (five). Dominik Konarski was another key player, going 8 of 11 on his way to 21 points and four steals.

The Academy's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-9. As for Jefferson Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 13-3 record.

When The Academy and Jefferson Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Academy will try to stop Peak to Peak's four-game winning streak when the meet at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Jefferson Academy will face off against Thornton and their five-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
