Softball Game Preview: Cambridge Bluejays vs. Fort Atkinson Blackhawks

The Cambridge Bluejays are taking a road trip to challenge the Fort Atkinson Blackhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Cambridge is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Marshall on Thursday. They fell 6-2 to the Cardinals. The Bluejays have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Fort Atkinson started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Monona Grove. They came up short against the Silver Eagles on Thursday, falling 12-5. The Blackhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kinley Wargolet made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Olivia Rue also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Cambridge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Fort Atkinson, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Cambridge might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Fort Atkinson in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Bluejays avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
