Softball Recap: Toms River South Drops Season-High Score on Manchester Township

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Toms River South). They put the hurt on the Manchester Township Hawks with a sharp 19-3 victory on Monday. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Charlotte Supino was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Supino was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Candy Peck was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Sophia Colon, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Toms River South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Toms River South's record is now 6-7. As for Manchester Township, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Toms River South will welcome Lacey Township at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for Manchester Township, they will square off against Point Pleasant Beach at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
