Softball Recap: Lovington Comes Up Short

Lovington and Silver squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Lovington had to settle for second. They lost 7-0 to the Fighting Colts. The game marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

Daphne Utajara spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Lovington's defeat dropped their record down to 23-10. As for Silver, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 27-4.

As of now, neither Lovington nor the Fighting Colts have any future games scheduled.
