Basketball Recap: Tohatchi Extends Winning Streak to Five

Tohatchi came tearing into Wednesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 60-44 victory over the Navajo Prep Eagles. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 60-50 loss the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tohatchi to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyle Yazzie, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 19 points and seven boards. Yazzie's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Josh Dawes was another key player, going 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and six rebounds.

Tohatchi's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points per game. As for Navajo Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season.

Tohatchi has already played their next matchup, a 62-23 victory against Crownpoint on the 17th. As for Navajo Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-64 win against Thoreau on the 17th.
