Nettleton is a perfect 10-0 against West Memphis since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Raiders will head out to challenge the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with 14 losses in a row, Nettleton turned things around against Parkview on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Patriots a 5-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Kennedy Massey's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sydney Huntsman, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Jayla Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Memphis). They put the hurt on Forrest City with a sharp 29-13 victory on Monday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Emma Emberton was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chloe Baker, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
West Memphis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Nettleton's record now sits at 4-14. As for West Memphis, their record is now 3-20.
Nettleton was able to grind out a solid victory over West Memphis when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
