Lewis County let Elkins stack five runs on them in the sixth inning on Wednesday but luckily Lewis County prevailed anyway. The Minutemen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Minutemen have posted against the Tigers since May 1, 2018.

Joel Good was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Good wasn't the only one making solid contact: Lewis County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The Minutemen are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lewis County's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Elkins, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lewis County will host Point Pleasant at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Big Blacks will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Minutemen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Elkins, they will square off against Grafton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
