Basketball Recap: Haines Victorious

Haines posted their closest win since March 6, 2024 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Craig Panthers, sneaking past 47-45. This was a revenge game for the Glacier Bears: when they faced off against the Panthers two weeks ago, they had to take a 46-44 defeat.

Craig lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sara Steffen, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds. The match was her third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Abigail Patten, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 18 boards.

Haines' victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Craig, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

Haines does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Craig, they and Petersburg will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Petersburg has lost eight straight at home , while Craig has lost three on the road.
