Basketball Recap: Cedar Ridge Takes a Loss

Cedar Ridge was the 78-64 winner over Hutto when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cedar Ridge Raiders were beaten by the Hutto Hippos 73-40 on Tuesday. The Raiders were down 53-30 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Cedar Ridge still got an impressive performance from Cooper Keen, who posted eight points. Keen is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Bryson Batton, who earned seven points.

Even though they lost, Cedar Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Hutto's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cylin Tate, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 18 points and three steals. What's more, Tate also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Jacob Bell was another key player, putting up 16 points and five steals.

Cedar Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Hutto, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-14.

Cedar Ridge is taking a road trip to challenge Round Rock Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Round Rock Westwood will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Cedar Ridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hutto, they will welcome Manor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hutto is facing Manor at the right time seeing as Manor is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
