Baseball Recap: Sotomayor Victorious

Sotomayor came out on top against Marquez on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Wolves took their matchup against the Gladiators 5-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 on Monday.

Trevor Montellano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

At the plate, Albert Chavez was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joshua Ortega, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Sotomayor and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Marquez, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-5.

Sotomayor didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-1 win against Mendez on the 14th. As for Marquez, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-0 victory against Jordan on the 14th.
