Recap: Westland Cougars vs. Dublin Coffman Shamrocks
The Westland Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight defeat. They were dealt a 98-59 defeat at the hands of Dublin Coffman. Westland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-25.
Westland's loss came despite strong showings from Sir Gathings and Noah Kershaw. Gathings scored 21 points, while Kershaw scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gathings has scored all season. Breaker Heller Jr. was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six assists.
Westland's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-13. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Dublin Coffman, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westland is on the road again on Friday and plays the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. New Albany will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak. As for Dublin Coffman, they will head out on the road to challenge the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Ohio (Hilliard Davidson is ranked 169th, while the Shamrocks are ranked 144th).
