Recap: Lutheran Lions vs. Platte Valley Broncos
The Lutheran Lions's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They really took it to Platte Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-29 win at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Lutheran has managed all season.
Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayda Vigil led the charge by scoring 21 points along with seven assists. Berkley Schneider was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven steals and five assists.
Despite the defeat, Platte Valley saw an underclassman step up: Kennedi Nelson scored eight points. Nelson is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight.
Lutheran's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Platte Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lutheran will take on Cheyenne Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cheyenne Mountain has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14. As for Platte Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Liberty Common at 6:00 p.m.
