Volleyball Game Preview: St. Charles Cardinals vs. Lincoln Lions

The St. Charles Cardinals will face off against the Lincoln Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

St. Charles is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Ohio's top teams: Beavercreek, who was ranked 25th at the time (St. Charles was ranked 18th). The Cardinals lost 3-0 to the Beavers on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cardinals have suffered since April 8th.

While St. Charles ultimately came up short, they really made Beavercreek work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-15, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Lincoln unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Pickerington North, falling 3-0.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:two sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 27-25, 25-16.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 13-3. As for St. Charles, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Everything went St. Charles' way against Lincoln in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as St. Charles made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
