Baseball Recap: Dublin Comes Up Short

Dublin extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-15 in the process. They came up short against the Tolar Rattlers, falling 10-0. Considering the last time the Lions couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for Tolar, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For Tolar's part, Drake Owens made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Owens a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Tolar got a massive performance out of Hunter Michels, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Michels a new career-high. Lucas Mills also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Dublin will face off against rival Millsap at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Tolar is set to square off against their familiar foe Breckenridge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
