Softball Recap: Hagerstown Snags 11th Win in Last 12 Games

Hagerstown won the last time they faced Winchester Community and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Golden Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Rylan Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mackenzee Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliya Anderson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Hagerstown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Hagerstown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Winchester Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Hagerstown and Winchester Community are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Tigers will square off against Centerville at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Winchester Community, they will host Bluffton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
