Baseball Recap: Francis Scott Key Eagles vs. South Carroll Cavaliers
Francis Scott Key had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-9-1 to make it six. They fell just short of the South Carroll Cavaliers by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-4 on April 4th.
As for South Carroll, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.
For South Carroll's part, Drew Wilson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wilson has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Carson Boyce was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
