Havre dropped down to 7-10 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Laurel Locomotives, falling 10-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Locomotives this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-9 back in April.
Havre saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ainsley Courtnage, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Courtnage is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
As for Laurel, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games.
On Laurel's side, the team relied heavily on Maddie Andersen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Andersen a new career-high. Sophia Wisecup was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Looking ahead, Havre will look to defend their home field on Friday against Polson at 7:00 p.m. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.88 runs per game on average), something the Blue Ponies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Laurel, they will square off against Hamilton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
