Softball Recap: Canoga Park Comes Up Short

Canoga Park extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-6 in the process. They came up short against the North Hollywood Huskies, falling 17-1. If the Hunters were looking for revenge after losing 8-1 to the Huskies when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for North Hollywood, their win bumped their record up to 8-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by ten runs or more this season.

For North Hollywood's part, Kaiya Mendoza and Ellison Hinnen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Mendoza didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Hinnen pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Mendoza went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Hinnen went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Ayla Soto was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Tyler Coleman-Daniels was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Canoga Park and North Hollywood will both be playing Grant the next time they take the field. The Hunters will host the Lancers at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Huskies will head out to face them at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
