Softball Recap: Gulf Breeze Comes Up Short

Gulf Breeze came into this matchup off a tough 15-run loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the T.R. Miller Tigers by a score of 3-1 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Dolphins have suffered since April 5, 2024.

Jacey Reed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

This is the second loss in a row for Gulf Breeze and nudges their season record down to 10-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-1 Pace (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 73.2% over those games). As for T.R. Miller, their record is now 13-11-1.

Coming up, Gulf Breeze will be playing at home against Northview at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chiefs' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Dolphins' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for T.R. Miller, they will venture away from home to face off against Pace at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 4.1, the Patriots 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
