Recap: Hammonton Blue Devils vs. Winslow Township Eagles

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Hammonton Blue Devils, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They had to suffer through a rough 33-6 loss at the hands of Winslow Township. While losing is never fun, Hammonton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Winslow Township is ranked 14th).

When it comes to explaining why Hammonton lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Kenny Smith. Despite the final result, he rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown.

Winslow Township was led to victory by Cam Miller and Deante Ruffin. Miller picked up 185 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Ruffin threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 16.6 yards per attempt. Miller's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. Winslow Township also got help from Nyqir Helton who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.

Hammonton has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Winslow Township, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Hammonton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Winslow Township will be playing in front of their home fans against Long Branch at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
