Alexander Central waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the University Christian Barracudas. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 20-25, 25-17, 25-22.

Alexander Central can attribute much of their success to Sophie Gryder, who had five digs and two aces. That's the most aces Gryder has posted since back in October of 2024.

Alexander Central's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for University Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alexander Central will square off against South Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for University Christian, they will challenge Winston Salem Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Barracudas are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
