Volleyball Recap: Vermilion Comes Up Short

Vermilion managed to slip by Bellevue the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Sailors lost 3-0 to the Redmen on Tuesday. The Sailors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Redmen apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Vermilion was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Bellevue's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-16, 25-19.

Vermilion's offense was headlined by Faith Sergent and Payton Strickler, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Lauren Logsdon and her nine assists. Finally, Emma Gebhardt kept Vermilion's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Vermilion's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Bellevue, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vermilion will take on Margaretta at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bellevue, they will square off against Perkins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
