Basketball Recap: Woodland Wolverines vs. Burke Bulldogs

Woodland was the 53-47 winner over Burke when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Woodland Wolverines were dealt a 93-60 loss at the hands of the Burke Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Burke found their leader in sophomore Jordan Nelson, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nelson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Melachi Singleton, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds.

Woodland's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Burke, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Woodland will host Academic Magnet at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodland is facing Academic Magnet at the right time seeing as Academic Magnet is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Burke, they will challenge Andrews at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Burke is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season.
