Gustavus suffers third straight loss on the road

Recap: Gustavus Foxes vs. Klawock Chieftains

The Gustavus Foxes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Klawock. While losing is never fun, Gustavus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Klawock is ranked ninth).

Gustavus' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Phin Patrick, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Patrick's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Patrick, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Gustavus' loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-3. As for Klawock, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.

Gustavus' road trip will continue as they head out to face Klawock on January 12th. As for Klawock, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gustavus on Friday. Hopefully Gustavus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
