Rancho San Juan had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They skirted past the Gonzales Spartans 3-2. For the Trailblazers, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 win the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Rancho San Juan wouldn't go down easily and took Gonzales into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-13, 21-25, 20-25, 15-12.

Julia Ramos-Verdin paced Rancho San Juan's offense, picking up ten kills. Ramos-Verdin got some help from Damaris Turner and her 14 assists. Turner also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Delylah Magdaleno, racking up six apiece.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rancho San Juan will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Anzar at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gonzales, they will host St. Francis at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
