Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Grand Rapids). Their defense stepped up to hand the Ottawa Hills Bengals an 8-0 shutout on Wednesday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering East Grand Rapids' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Ottawa Hills are ranked 301st).

The victory made it two in a row for East Grand Rapids and bumps their season record up to 5-6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two games. As for Ottawa Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Grand Rapids will venture away from home to square off against Forest Hills Central at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Ottawa Hills, they will face off against East Kentwood at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
