Baseball Recap: Chico Gets the Win

Chico proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lodi Flames 9-8.

Jordan Neugebauer was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Blake Bettencourt was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Chico's win bumped their record up to 19-1. As for Lodi, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-5 record.

Looking ahead, Chico will challenge Pleasant Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Lodi, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Mary's at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
