Softball Recap: Crivitz Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Crivitz had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Niagara Badgers a 6-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 back in April.

Not much got past Taryn Tracy, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Niagara off the board. Tracy has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Izzy Wesoloski was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Marli Meyers, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Crivitz kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 14-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Crivitz's record now sits at 15-3. As for Niagara, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Crivitz will take on Gillett at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.18 runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Niagara, they will challenge Wausaukee at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
