Baseball Game Preview: Van Horn Falcons vs. Pembroke Hill Raiders

The Van Horn Falcons will face off against the Pembroke Hill Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Van Horn has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Van Horn fell victim to Lincoln College Prep and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 11-0 to the Blue Tigers. The Falcons have struggled against the Blue Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Pembroke Hill ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Warrensburg. The win was nothing new for the Raiders as they're now sitting on four straight.

Jack Passan and Eli Sitzer did most of the damage at the plate: Passan went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Sitzer went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Pembroke Hill pushed their record up to 19-4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Van Horn, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Van Horn has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pembroke Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
