Softball Recap: Klein Find Success

Klein won the last time they faced Klein Cain and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Klein Bearkats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Klein Cain Hurricanes. That's two games straight that the Bearkats have won by just one run.

Madilyn Schultz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Hall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Reece Carpenter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Klein and bumps their season record up to 12-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Klein Cain, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-12.

Looking ahead, Klein will head out to challenge Klein Forest at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Klein is facing Klein Forest at the right time seeing as Klein Forest is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Klein Cain, they will be playing at home against Klein Oak at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Klein Oak's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Klein Cain's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
