Volleyball Recap: Valley View Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Valley View, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the West Scranton Invaders 3-2. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Invaders on Thursday, too.

Valley View had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23, 17-15.

Layla Marino was nothing short of spectacular: she had 14 kills, nine aces, three digs, and one block. Those 14 kills gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Hallock, who had 21 assists and three aces.

They weren't the only good server: Valley View was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive games.

Valley View's record now sits at 2-4. As for West Scranton, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
