Football Recap: Leake County Falls to Leake Central in First Game of Season

Leake County had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 42-26 bruising from Leake Central. The defeat continues a trend for Leake County in their meetings with Leake Central: they've now lost four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Leake County lost, don't look at Zechariah Washington. Despite the final result, he rushed for 63 yards and a pair of scores, and also caught one TD.

Leake Central had a senior duo take command as Israel Ross rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns and Ty'Lan Fortune gained 118 total yards and three touchdowns. Fortune got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 60 yards.

Leake County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 34-24 loss against West Lowndes on the 4th. As for Leake Central, they have also already played their next match, a 49-38 victory against Wayne County on the 5th.
