Softball Game Preview: Leonard Tigers vs. Pottsboro Cardinals

Leonard is 2-8 against Pottsboro since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tigers will host the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Leonard is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Blue Ridge. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Leonard has suffered against Blue Ridge since February 17, 2023.

Meanwhile, Pottsboro fell victim to Howe and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Bulldogs. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Pottsboro saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cheyenne Mitchell, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Pottsboro dropped their record down to 4-15-1 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Leonard, their loss dropped their record down to 3-22.

Everything went Leonard's way against Pottsboro in their previous matchup back in March, as Leonard made off with a 23-15 win. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
