Softball Recap: Bishop O'Dowd Takes a Loss

Bishop O'Dowd lost against Castro Valley back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Bishop O'Dowd fell just short of Castro Valley by a score of 5-3. The Dragons' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Olivia Marletta was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaella Mercado, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Bishop O'Dowd's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Castro Valley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop O'Dowd will head out to challenge Pinole Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pinole Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Bishop O'Dowd's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Castro Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
