Baseball Recap: Tri-Valley Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Tri-Valley lost to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Vikings came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 4-1.

Grayson Coughlin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cole Klein, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Tri-Valley's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Tri-Valley will challenge rival LeRoy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3.3, the Panthers 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley is set to square off against their familiar foe El Paso-Gridley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
