Softball Recap: Madison Trojans vs. Erie-Mason Eagles
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Madison ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Erie-Mason Eagles 12-11. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Olivia Schmitz spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and nine unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Madison let Mya Solis and Kalexiana Wrest run wild. Solis went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Wrest went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two doubles gave Solis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Gilbertson, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Madison's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Erie-Mason, they dropped their record down to 5-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
