Football Recap: Camp Verde Keeps Tonopah Valley's Under Pressure + How To Watch

Camp Verde hadn't done well against Tonopah Valley recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Cowboys enjoyed a cozy 21-7 victory over the Phoenix. This was payback for the Cowboys, who suffered a 34-8 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brayden Walsworth was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 37 yards. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Kayle Sapp was in the mix too, providing Camp Verde with two TDs.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Camp Verde's defense and their 3.5 sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Chase Dugan and Gage Selting, who each picked up one sack apiece. Dugan was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making 15 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Camp Verde now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Tonopah Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Camp Verde will head out on the road to face off against Fountain Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Cowboys' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Tonopah Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against San Tan Charter at 7:00 p.m.
