Softball Recap: Torres Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Torres hadn't done well against Roosevelt recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Toros put the hurt on the Rough Riders with a sharp 15-5 victory. Considering the Toros have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

J'lynn Mitchell was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Chavez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Torres always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roosevelt only posted an OBP of .409.

Torres' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Looking ahead, Torres will face off against San Joaquin Memorial at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Toros are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Roosevelt, they will take on Madera South at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stallions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.62 runs per game on average), something the Rough Riders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
