The biggest upset of the week belonged to Estero, who took down 276th ranked Barron Collier, 35-31. Cody Long threw for 196 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 76 yards in the win.
The Wildcats moved up to 316 from 347 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 6A District 13. Estero was able to move up by besting the Cougars 35-31.
Long put up the best numbers in passing as Mark Jackson's team beat Barron Collier. Long's favorite target this week was Zimon Brennan, who caught 4 passes for 69 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Long of the Wildcats is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,251. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tony Lesende. The Palmetto Ridge star has 23 catches for 437 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Palmetto Ridge takes on second place Naples. Last week, Palmetto Ridge fell to Immokalee, while Naples bested Gulf Coast.
The league will see a high scoring game when the Golden Eagles and the Bears face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Naples comes in having scored 298 this season, while Palmetto Ridge has scored 193. Bill Kramer's team scored 48 points last week as it defeated the Sharks.
The Golden Eagles took down Gulf Coast 48-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Garrett Zech ran for 183 yards during the win.
