Baseball Recap: Chula Vista Gets the Win

Chula Vista's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Lincoln Hornets. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 8-4 victory the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Pablo Alvarado was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Reyna, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Chula Vista's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Chula Vista will be taking part in a tournament against Canyon Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lincoln, they will take on Bishop's in a tournament on Tuesday.
