Hi-Lo (8 Man) recap Oct. 3, 2012

Lone Pine's Alec Garcia recorded the longest rushing play in Hi-Lo (8 Man) this season in his game against Excel Christian last week. Garcia scampered for 72 yards on the play and finished with 77 on the day as his team fell to the Warriors.

Big Pine was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in the league. The Warriors vanquished Lee Vining 36-21 earlier in the week.

Lone Pine's dynamic duo of Mike Cappello and Garcia proved tough for Excel Christian to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cappello threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns and Garcia had 115 yards receiving. Garrett Sullivan helped Lone Pine's passing attack out by catching four balls for 54 yards.

Jay Simson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 100 yards on 27 carries as Immanuel Christian lost to the Warriors. Teammate Sterling Board added to the ground attack by rushing for 55 yards.

Dante Stucky made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Crusaders lost to Trona. The 5-foot-10 senior recorded one fumble.

The Golden Eagles' Cappello and Garcia have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Hi-Lo (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Cappello has thrown for 435 yards this season, while Garcia, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 20 catches for 195 yards. Immanuel Christian's Dmitri Martini leads the league in rushing yards with 382.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lone Pine takes on Big Pine. At the moment, the Golden Eagles are in third, while Derek Carrington's team is in second.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Tornadoes take on the Tigers. Trona has allowed 123 points this season, while Lee Vining has given up 178. John Foster's team allowed 24 points last week as it topped Aaron Gage's team.
