Basketball Recap: Port Arthur Memorial's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Port Arthur Memorial won the last time they faced Dekaney and things went their way on Friday too. The Port Arthur Memorial Titans walked away with a 73-60 victory over the Dekaney Wildcats. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Wildcats are ranked 587th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Port Arthur Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Dekaney, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Arthur Memorial will challenge Port Neches-Groves at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Dekaney, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Dekaney Wildcats take on the Spring Lions at 4:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
