Basketball Game Preview: Firelands Falcons vs. Keystone Wildcats

The Firelands Falcons will head out to square off against the Keystone Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Firelands came up short against Brookside on Saturday, falling 73-53. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Keystone came tearing into Saturday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Raiders 77-56. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Raiders are ranked 601st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Keystone's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.3 points over those games. As for Firelands, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.

Things could have been worse for Firelands, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-46 loss to Keystone in their previous meeting back in January. Can Firelands avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
